| 摘要 | 本文架構一考慮勞動供給的內生成長模型，假定家計部門中，每位消費者於期初有 不同的實質資本，分析家計部門中的消費者愈努力追求社會地位時，對於經濟成長與社 會所得不均度的影響。我們發現，消費者愈努力追求社會地位時，勞動供給愈高，將提 高實質資本的邊際生產力，有助於資本累積，進而促進經濟成長，然而，由於經濟體系 中的個人期初財富(實質資本)水準不同，因此，愈高的勞動供給，雖然帶來愈高的經濟 成長率，同時也擴大了社會的所得不均度。 We construct an endogenous growth model with elastic labor supply, in which agent differ in their initial endowments of physical capital. In this framework, the growth rate and the distribution of income are jointly determined. We present the preference of an individual regarding social status measured by the relative wealth. A higher status seeking motivates agents to work more. It determines a higher the rate of return to capital, which leads a higher the rate of capital accumulation and the distribution of income across agents. |
