摘要 | The German phrase “Schwein haben” does not mean that you are in possession of a pig. And “die Sau rauslassen” refers not to an act of pet friendly liberation.Proverbial phrases of this kind are an indispensable part of everyday German and occupy an important place in popular culture, such as in advertisements, on radio shows or in newspaper articles. The treatment of such proverbs in the classroom, however, is only been considered a marginal issue by the foreign language teaching methodology. A methodological and didactic integration of idiomatic expressions at the level of vocabulary hardly occurs despite the fact that the teaching of these expressions should be taken for granted since the communicative approach. Building on the methodological approach of Kühl (1992, 1996), the present paper introduces a five step approach to teaching proverbial phrases in a German as foreign language class. |
