| 摘要 | 本研究では、ナラティブ分析の手法で、幼少期に台湾の言葉や文化を教育しなかったものの子どもを台湾の大学に留学させるという希望を叶えた2 人の台湾人母に焦点を当てて、2 人の子育て戦略を探った。分析の結果、2 人が日本語だけで子育てをした要因には、自身の高い日本語力と夫の中国語能力の欠如、海外ルーツの子どもに非寛容な日本社会、台湾社会の複雑な言語背景などがあった。しかし、 子どもに「異文化を理解できる人」になってほしいという願いや「ルーツの継承」という思いから子どもの台湾留学を視野に入れて以降、2 人は子どもの性格や得手不得手などを考慮したそれぞれのやり方で、進路選択に戦略的に介入したことが明らかになった。さらに、進路選択時の子どもの語りも検証した結果、当時の母親の思いや行動が子どもにはまったく異なる捉え方をされていたことも判明したが、それも含めて親の戦略的介入の成果であったと言える。 Using the method of narrative analysis, this study explored the parenting strategies of two Taiwanese mothers who did not teach their mother tongue and culture to their children at an early age, and yet fulfilled their wish to send their children to a Taiwanese university. The analysis revealed that two mothers raised their children exclusively in Japanese due to their own high Japanese language competence, their husbands’ lack of Chinese language skills, the intolerance of Japanese society toward children with overseas roots, and the complex linguistic background of Taiwanese society. However, at some point of child rearing, the two mothers began to consider having their children study in Taiwan because of a desire for their children to become“ a person who can understand different cultures” and a desire to“ pass on the Taiwanese root,” and then, they strategically intervened in their children’s career choices in their own ways. Moreover, close examination of the children’s narratives regarding the time of their career choice revealed that the children perceived the mother’s thoughts and actions in completely different ways, which can be seen as the result of the parents’ strategic intervention. |
